Utah college-age population will soon shift from high growth to a season of decline
October 3, 2024 (Salt Lake City) – Utah’s population continues to grow, age, and diversify. A new report from the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute shows that compared to national declines beginning in 2025, the state’s college-age population is projected to begin decreasing in 2032 and decline for over a decade before rebounding. They were: Demographic Insight: Utah’s California In-Migrants – One in five movers to Utah were Californians in 2022. This report highlights where these movers are living in Utah, as well as the differences and similarities between this population and other movers to Utah. Gardner Policy Institute’s Survey of Utah Consumer Sentiment. July 17, 2024 (Salt Lake City) – The Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation (UOLF) preserves Utah’s living Olympic legacy by managing three world-class, multiuse Olympic venues (the Utah Olympic Oval, Utah Olympic Park, and Soldier Hollow Nordic Center) as well as Park City Ski and Snowboard (PCSS). A new report from the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute shows that UOLF, combined with visitor spending at the venues, annually contributes an estimated 1,045 jobs, $78 million in GDP, and approximately $132 million in output (total intermediate and final industry sales) from direct, indirect, and induced economic contributions.
