August 2022 Utah Consumer Sentiment
Utah’s consumer sentiment increased from 62.9 in July 2022 to 66.0 in August 2022, according to the Kem C. Gardner Institute’s Consumer Sentiment Survey, after three consecutive months of decline. A similar survey by the University of Michigan during the same period found an increase in sentiment among Americans as a whole, rising from 51.5 to 58.2.
Ivory-Boyer Construction Report, 1st Quarter 2022
After three years of increases, permitted construction value decreased between 2021 Q1 and 2022 Q1. During the first three months of 2022, total permitted construction value reached $3.46 billion, a 2.2% decrease over the same time period from 2021.

July 2022 Utah Consumer Sentiment
Utah’s consumer sentiment fell from 64.4 to 62.9 in July 2022, according to the Kem C. Gardner Institute’s Consumer Sentiment Survey, the lowest point since October 2020 when the survey began. A similar survey by the University of Michigan during the same period found an uptick in sentiment among Americans as a whole increasing from 50.0 to 51.5.

Ivory-Boyer Construction Report Fourth Quarter 2021
The continued record breaking pace of permitted construction activity reached new milestones in 2021. The rebound in commercial activity in 2021 put the year total on the second highest in terms of construction value. The residential market also reached into new territory.
March 2022 Utah Consumer Sentiment
Utah’s consumer sentiment declined 10.8 points in March, decreasing to 68.0, according to the Kem C. Gardner Institute’s Survey of Utah consumers. This is the largest monthly drop since the index began in October 2020. Outlooks fell among all groups, suggesting that every Utahn feels the cost of living pinch due to rising fuel prices and inflation as well as concerns around geopolitical instability.

Utah’s consumer sentiment rose by 1.9 points from January to February, increasing to 78.8, according to the Kem C. Gardner Institute’s Utah Consumer Sentiment Survey. While the overall outlook increased, certain groups reported mixed views.
