The Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute announces its next “Newsmaker Breakfast,” a monthly event highlighting current issues impacting the State of Utah. The event will be held in the Ivory Ballroom of the Thomas S. Monson Center. A light breakfast will be served.
Salt Lake City’s population is growing and is expected to keep growing. But that growth brings challenges. Street maintenance, affordable housing, transit service, and public safety are all critical areas that need additional funding to maintain the City’s high quality of life. Through years of study, planning and public involvement, the Administration and Council staff have identified hundreds of millions of dollars in unfunded one-time and ongoing needs in these four areas.
Salt Lake City Mayor Jackie Biskupski and Salt Lake City Council Chair Erin Mendenhall will be with us on April 11 to talk more about the critical service needs and how potential funding mechanisms might work for City residents and business owners. The conversation will be moderated by Kem C. Gardner Institute Director Natalie Gochnour. Media are invited to attend.
