The Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute and Deseret News are pleased to partner and host INFORMED DECISIONS™ seminars that bring relevant research to the community through compelling discussion and feature reporting.

The inaugural seminar focuses on Utah’s declining fertility rate, which has fallen for eight consecutive years and now stands at a historic low.

Declining fertility creates important implications for public policies in education, health care, social services, and others. It also impacts business decisions. Seminar panelists, which include national and local demographic experts, will explore why Utah’s fertility is declining and what it means for Utah’s future.

The Gardner Policy Institute will release at the seminar new research on this important demographic trend.

Panelists

The panelists will include a local, national, and LDS Church demographic experts. Our working list includes the following:

  • Joel Kotkin, Presidential Fellow in Urban Futures at Chapman University
  • Samuel Sturgeon, President, Demographic Intelligence

The conversation will be facilitated by Doug Wilks, editor of the Deseret News.
